Dd Appoint Rahul Dravid As Mentor For Ipl 2016
>The Delhi Daredevils (DD) franchise today announced former Indian skipper Rahul Dravid as the mentor of the team and former Indian fielding coach Paddy Upton as the Head Coach of the team for the upcoming IPL 2016. DD in a press conference in Delhi today made the appointment public. Earlier following the IPL 2016 auction, where the franchise went for upcoming domestic players it was speculated that Dravid who was the mentor and coach of the suspended Rajasthan Royals (RR) team will take up the coaching position in the team. Rahul Dravid was also present at the event and said, “Enjoyed my time at Rajasthan Royals. I’ve had fond memories there and I’m keen on making a few more here at Delhi. He further added, “DD have three brilliant wicketkeeper-batsmen in De Kock, Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant. Two of them may play as specialist batsmen. I don’t like to address players as ‘icon’. Irrespective of who you are, you’ve got to perform. “Don’t think the price for which a player has been bought during the auction,is a criteria of his talent. I would aspire young cricketers to grow and play all three formats of cricket,” Dravid said. In the coaching department, Dravid and Upton will have the same technical director Zubin Bharucha from the Rajasthan Royals team. Former Indian players Sridharan Sriram and Praveen Amre have been included as batting coaches. Whereas former Indian pacer TA Sekhar will join in as the bowling consultant. The Delhi Daredevils had made some big changes in their set up ahead of the previous edition of the IPL but the result remained the same as they finished 7th after ending the 2013 and 2014 seasons on the 9th and 8th position on the points table.
